Top 5 Speediest cars in the world

Top 5 Speedest Car in the World

The fastest cars in the world are separated into three main categories: automobiles, street-legal motorcycles, and purpose-built racing cars. There are numerous arguments as to which car manufacturer makes the fastest vehicle, but most of these arguments center around two manufacturers, Ferrari and Porsche. But what about all those other manufacturers? What about race-only vehicles? What about electric cars? And what if you want to know who makes the fastest car in the world? We’ve got all those answers right here! Here are our top 5 speediest cars in the world!

1) Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

With a top speed of 267 mph, it's faster than you. And that's probably all you need to know about why it’s #1 on our list. The Bugatti Veyron has been named World Car of the Year twice and was also called Car of the Decade by ABC News. Having held records for speed for years, it still stands as one of the most powerful cars ever made with 1,001 hp and an acceleration from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds—and we don't mean quarter-mile time. Just hit 100 mph and hold on...it'll be over before you can shout Top Gear. For reference, Ferrari Enzo could only manage 3.3 seconds and Koenigsegg CCX did it in 3.2. That kind of power comes at a price though: $1,700,000 to be exact. If you want something more attainable (and practical), there are plenty of other options on our list... as long as you're willing to settle for less power.

2) Hennessey Venom GT

The Hennessey Venom GT is a vehicle built by Texas-based tuning shop Hennessey Performance Engineering, Inc. (HPE). The current fastest street-legal production car with an advertised top speed of 270 mph. Records show that it reached speeds of 265.7 mph at Texas' Royal Purple Raceway. (The Koenigsegg Agera R beat that record, however.) It has a 7-liter twin-turbo V8 engine pushing 1,244 horsepower and 1,155 lb/ft torque. It's also got a carbon fiber body, making it lightweight but strong. This allows for better acceleration and handling than most other cars on the market today. And all of these specs come at a price tag of $1 million or more! What do you think? Is it worth it? Let us know what you think below!

3) Koenigsegg Agera R

0 to 186 mph (0 to 300 km/h) time of 14.53 seconds. The top speed of a standard Agera R is 277 mph (447 km/h). From 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h), acceleration happens in 2.9 seconds, and it takes 4.5 seconds for the model to go from 60 to 100 mph (97 to 161 km/h). This vehicle has a power-to-weight ratio of 1 hp per 11 lb. (5 kg). It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds, and it can reach a maximum speed of 255 mph (410 km/h). As far as its fuel consumption goes, you will spend $2.72 on gas every mile if you drive 15 miles per hour over the speed limit; therefore, you will spend $1.29 every mile if you drive at or below that same speed limit. On average, one liter of fuel will cost you about $1.61 each time you fill up your tank with premium unleaded gasoline.

4) SSC Ultimate Aero TT

The Ultimate Aero TT is a supercar by Hennessey Performance (HPE). It was unveiled at SEMA 2007 and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.7 seconds and has an estimated top speed of. Hennessey states that it can accelerate from 0-200 mph (322 km/h) in 14.51 seconds. The price is $ 1,000,000, plus tax and dealer prep fees. A customer would have to sign a waiver before driving it on public roads and if they wanted HPE to install roll bars for road use, it would cost them another $45,000 but that would also void their warranty. Only nine units were built. The car's engine is based on a twin-turbocharged 7.0 liter V8 with dual intercoolers derived from GM's LS7 engine found in its Corvette Z06 which produces 1092 hp (800 kW) @ 6100 pm and 1322 lb·ft (1700 N·m) @ 4100 pm, with a redline of 7000 rpm. As such, the engine produces more power than both versions of Bugatti Veyron as well as Koenigsegg CCXR.

It uses Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires measuring 265/35ZR19 front and 345/30ZR20 rear.

5) McLaren F1

The ultimate automotive achievement. The F1 holds a handful of production-car records and can hit 60 mph from a dead stop in 3.2 seconds, 100 mph in 6.3 seconds, and 200 mph just 22.5 seconds later. This makes it one of only two road cars to have ever broken into triple digits from a standing start (the other being Bugatti’s Veyron). Its top speed is listed at 240 miles per hour, which makes it technically the fastest production car ever built—although that may be disputed since its three wheels are technically retractable and thus not production as defined by Guinness World Records. It also happens to be one of the most expensive cars ever sold, with current models going for $8 million or more.
